I am an artist who loves learning and experimenting with new techniques, which inspires me to explore a variety of subjects and styles in my work. I first picked up watercolor in 2019 and instantly fell in love with its beauty and spontaneity.
Today, I use watercolor to create commissioned home and pet portraits. I’ve also been painting with acrylics for more than 30 years. While my style and subjects have evolved over time, I always return to acrylics for their versatility, and especially for the bold, vibrant colors they allow me to use.
I typically paint animals and objects that feel nostalgic to me, like flags, a View Master or an old muscle car. Commissions are one of my favorite things to work on. Over the years, I’ve created custom pieces in various mediums and on all kinds of surfaces. I’ve painted murals, signs, and even unique items like wooden ironing boards and birdhouses.
My most popular commissions are watercolor portraits of homes and pets. Originally from Kentucky, I’ve lived all across the United States, from Montana to Connecticut thanks to my time in the Army and the adventurous spirit of my husband of 30 years. Since 2006, we’ve made our home just south of Nashville, where we raised our two children.
I have a degree in Elementary Education, and not surprisingly, my favorite part of teaching (besides the kids!) was always the art projects. I now occasionally teach art classes at our local library.
I enjoy participating in art shows and exhibits because I get to meet lots of new people.
